Our good weekending guide to our fave swim & sunset spots

BACK TO FUN STUFF

Enjoy a little guide to our hometown Dunsborough, Yallingup and surrounds. We have put together a list of our favourite hidden gems to do your best weekending, from early morning to sunset.

1. Early (or not so early swim) at Yallingup Lagoon
Only one word for this beautiful little swimming hole this time of year, glorious. As a general rule in the mornings during Autumn this spot is protected by the wind. However if you want to have a quick look before you jump in the car a good tip is always check out @yallingupsurfschool instagram account, Crystal always has a morning update of how Yallingup is looking. Also while your there grab a coffee from Lagoon and make a booking for lunch or dinner.

2. Good beach hunting along Eagle Bay-Meelup Road
Once you get to the bottom of the hill along Eagle Bay Road, you turn right onto Eagle Bay- Meelup Road. Along this windy road you will find so many nooks and crannies to park up your car and find a not so-crowded swimming spot. There are twelve car parks along the way which all lead to great little beaches.

3. A sunny filled secret snorkelling spot
If you don’t mind a little stroll to a pocket of paradise delivering all the quintessential turquoise blues of down south West Oz, a beautiful swimming spot surrounded by rocks creating a protected channel and most importantly it’s name sake “The Aquarium” an treasure trove of underwater exploring (so definitely bring your snorkel and flippers). You can find The Aquarium off Canal Rocks road (google pin drop link here – you’re welcome !!). There is a small gravel parking area and the hiking path starts from there, and is about a 15 minute hike down hill through bushland with some rocks and gravel along the way. Hot tip along the walk you will find Kathleen’s seat, which over looks Canal Rocks.

4. Sunsets at Sugarloaf Rock
If you are after a pretty epic sunset spot with elevated views of the Indian Ocean to the skyline and you love a gigantic sea-sculptured granite rock – Sugarloaf Rock will definitely float your boat. Hot tip for beforehand to create an all-time sunset snacky plate, head to Vasse Village Farmers Market (the Ikea for fruit, veg, cheese, meat, baked foods beforehand) or keep it local at Cape Wholefoods in Dunsborough.
