On Halloween, Eagle Bay Brewing Co. transforms into something a little different.

Ghosts and ghouls fill the brewery.

The costumes become more outrageous.

The dance floor gets a little wilder.

But behind all the spooky fun is a cause that's deeply personal to many of us.

The Brain Eaters Ball was created to raise awareness and vital funds for brain cancer research, supporting The Brain Cancer Centre.

A Cause Close to Our Hearts

The event is the brainchild of Tara and Tim Hawken.

Originally known as the Bloodsuckers Ball, the event first raised funds for malaria prevention before evolving into something much closer to home.

At just 29 years old, Tara was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumour.

Doctors gave her between two and five years to live.

That diagnosis was more than 14 years ago.

Today, Tara is thriving thanks to exceptional medical care, determination and a great deal of personal resilience.

Sadly, her story remains the exception.

Every five hours, someone in Australia is diagnosed with brain cancer.

Fewer than 20% of patients survive beyond five years.

There is still so much work to do.

Supporting The Brain Cancer Centre

The Brain Cancer Centre was established by Carrie's Beanies 4 Brain Cancer with one ambitious goal.

A future where no lives are lost to brain cancer.

Through collaboration, research and investment in new treatments, the organisation is helping improve outcomes for patients and their families while working towards making brain cancer a treatable disease rather than a terminal diagnosis.

It's a mission we're incredibly proud to support.

The 2024 Brain Eaters Ball

On Friday 1 November 2024, 150 wonderfully dressed guests joined us at Eagle Bay Brewing Co. for an unforgettable evening of costumes, music, food and fundraising.

The creativity on display was extraordinary.

The generosity was even greater.

Together, our incredible community raised an amazing:

Every dollar will help support vital brain cancer research through The Brain Cancer Centre.

It was a night filled with laughter, connection and hope, proving once again that when a community comes together, incredible things can happen.
