Local Love Stories - Sylvia & Zach
Meet Sylvia and Zach, a laidback couple who chose the South West for their wedding day, drawn to its natural beauty, relaxed pace and the sense of home it gives them both.
From ocean views and rolling paddocks to a choreographed first dance and a packed dance floor, their celebration was full of meaningful moments, good food and plenty of fun.
Why the South West?
For Sylvia and Zach, the South West was the perfect place to tie the knot.
“We adore the South West region. We are both huge beach people at heart, but we also love feeling like we are in the country.”
Having both grown up in small country towns, they wanted their wedding to feel calm, grounded and relaxed.
The South West offered the perfect balance of coast and country, allowing them to celebrate somewhere that felt completely natural to them.
Why Eagle Bay Brewing Co.?
For Sylvia and Zach, it was love at first sight.
“We initially chose Eagle Bay for the views, the paddocks, the trees and the ocean. All of our favourite things in one location.”
Beyond the beautiful setting, the ease of planning helped confirm their decision.
“Everything was made so easy with the event coordinators, and the menu had recently undergone an upgrade, so we were really happy with the choices on offer.”
With the venue, food and support team all taken care of, they could focus on enjoying the experience.
Choosing Their Wedding Vendors
When it came to choosing vendors, Sylvia and Zach began with what mattered most to them.
“We started with the music, then the photos and video, followed by all of the styling.”
After meeting with several suppliers, they chose the people they connected with most.
That approach helped them create a team of vendors who understood their vision and made the planning process feel personal and collaborative.
Their Most Memorable Moment
Without hesitation, Sylvia and Zach chose their first dance.
“We spent many weeks practising with Inga Haas School of Dance, and it is safe to say it was one of our favourite moments of the entire day.”
The time and effort they put into learning the routine made the moment even more special.
It was not only a beautiful part of the reception, but also something they had worked towards together in the weeks leading up to the wedding.
Making a Weekend of It
Sylvia and Zach extended the celebrations by staying locally with their bridal party and enjoying everything the South West has to offer.
“We spent most of the weekend enjoying all of the good food and drinks in the region. It made for a much more relaxed vibe on the wedding day.”
Their top recommendation for the day after?
“A beach recovery at Meelup, for sure.”
A swim, a slow morning and time with their favourite people was the perfect way to finish the weekend.
Advice for Future Couples
Sylvia’s advice is simple.
“Take one thing at a time.”
“Slowly tick things off your list and do not try to tackle everything at once, because it can become overwhelming.”
Breaking the planning process into smaller steps helped them stay calm and enjoy the lead-up to their wedding day.
The Song That Filled the Dance Floor
The groom’s sister helped kick off the dance floor with a line dance after dinner.
The song?
Cowgirl Trailride.
“It was amazing. Everyone got up and gave it a go.”
It was the perfect way to get guests moving and set the tone for a fun night of dancing.
Their Eagle Bay Favourites
For the groom: Eagle Bay Kolsch
For the bride: Bubbles
A classic pairing for a relaxed South West wedding.
