LOCAL LOVE STORIES - SARAH AND HAYDEN

Local Love Stories: Sarah & Hayden

We love celebrating love at Eagle Bay. Meet Hayden and Sarah, who tied the knot in a relaxed celebration at our bushland ceremony site, followed by a wedding reception that perfectly matched their laid-back style, in February 2024.

For Sarah and Hayden, choosing to get married in the South West was a no-brainer. Though both originally from Perth, they now call the region home and love everything about it. It meant their guests could make a weekend of it, soaking up the coastline and relaxed vibe that make the South West so special.

– Why did you land on Eagle Bay as your venue?

Having worked at Eagle Bay Brewing Co. since 2020, Sarah already had her heart set on the venue.

“I fell in love with the bushland ceremony site. It’s the perfect blend of everything I love about the South West, bush, farmland, and views of the ocean. Plus, getting married in February, the shaded bushland site was a huge bonus!”

The couple had initially planned to host their reception at home, but after a bit more consideration, they decided to keep it all in one place.

“We just wanted something really chilled and casual. Eagle Bay matched our vibe perfectly, it made everything easier, and honestly, more fun and less stressful.”

– How did you choose your vendors?

Sarah’s years in the wedding industry made vendor selection a breeze. “I’d worked alongside so many amazing people, so it was a few easy choices.”

Their celebrant, Scott, was a friend of a friend and quickly became one of the highlights of the day bringing energy, ease, and fun to the ceremony, and even staying on to celebrate at the reception.

Florals were by Hayley from YEH, someone Sarah had her eye on from the very beginning. Hayley’s native floral designs brought the earthy, modern aesthetic to life. “I knew from the minute I got engaged that I wanted to work with Hayley. Her style is just stunning and she was a dream to work with.”

– Top South West to-dos on your wedding weekend?

Pre-wedding drinks at Bungalow were a hit, “It was super casual, which is exactly what we wanted. Guests could pop in, have a drink, and chill.” For the recovery, they chose Aravina Estate, but with “so many stunning venues in the area, you’re spoiled for choice.” We even host pre/post wedding recoveries here at EBBCo.

– One key bit of advice to future couples in the leadup to their wedding day?

“Be present. The day flies by in a blur, so carve out a few quiet moments together.” Hayden and Sarah took five minutes during their photo session to simply soak it all in, just the two of them and say it was one of the most memorable parts of the day.

– A favourite memorable moment on your special day?

The ceremony stole the show. “Saying our vows in front of our family and friends, signing the certificate, and hearing ‘husband and wife’ for the first time. It’s hard to put into words how happy we felt.”

– Song that got everyone up on the dance floor on your wedding night?

It’s hard to go past Gimme Gimme by ABBA and the crowd-favourite Mr Brightside by The Killers.

– Their Eagle Bay picks?

Sarah loves our Eagle Bay Vineyard Chardonnay, but was sipping on G&Ts all evening, while Hayden’s go-to was our Pale Ale.
