LOCAL LOVE STORIES - Paige & James
Meet James and Paige, one of our wonderful couples who celebrated their love with us at Eagle Bay.
For James and Paige, choosing the South West for their wedding location was a no-brainer. James grew up in the region, so it’s always held a special place in their hearts. Over the years, they’ve spent countless weekends down south, soaking in the beauty of the landscape, the laid-back atmosphere, and the countless cherished memories. When it came to planning their big day, they knew there was nowhere else they’d rather tie the knot.
– Why did you land on Eagle Bay as your venue?
For these two, Eagle Bay ticked all the boxes. The first thing that drew them in was the view, panoramic ocean vistas, lush rolling hills, and that effortlessly relaxed vibe. “It just stood out straight away,” they shared. “It felt intimate and chic but still so laid-back, exactly the vibe we were after.” They loved the way the ceremony and reception spaces felt distinct yet flowed together, creating a seamless and natural experience. Plus, when they met Sarah our ex - functions manager (now marketing guru), they were instantly sold. “She was so warm and easy to talk to, we knew she’d be amazing to work with.”
– How did you choose your vendors (Emma Macaulay, Blush & Bloom, Yallingup Event Hire, etc)?
From the get-go, they had a clear vision of the creative team they wanted to bring on board. “Emma (Emma MacCauley Photography) and Alix (By Alix) were a no-brainer, we’d admired their work for ages and loved how they captured the magic of the South West so effortlessly.” For Paige and James, choosing vendors was about more than talent; it was about finding people who matched their energy and whom they could trust to bring the day to life without micro-managing. “We locked in our vendors super early, and it was the best decision we made. Everyone worked so well together, and it made the whole process so smooth. We felt so lucky to have had such a brilliant team around us.”
– A favourite memorable moment on your special day?
One standout moment for Paige was during dinner. “I remember just sitting back and watching everyone laughing, chatting, and having the best time. It was exactly what we wanted, so full of love.” They had envisioned a day centred around connection, good food, good music, and a laid-back, happy vibe, and seeing that come to life was magical. Long tables encouraged mingling, and the dance floor was packed all night, thanks to Brayden (South Sound Events). “The energy was amazing!”
– Top South West to-dos on your wedding weekend?
For James and Paige, the wedding weekend wasn’t just about the big day, it was a whole experience. They made the most of their time down south, especially since many of their guests had flown in from New Zealand. “We filled the week with all the best bits of the South West, wineries, long lunches, coastal walks. Everyone loved it, and it made the whole celebration feel even more special.”
– One key bit of advice to future couples in the lead-up to their wedding day?
“Be present,” they advised. “The day goes by so quickly, so take little moments to pause and enjoy it. Everyone is there to celebrate you, so don’t get too caught up in the details, soak up the love and enjoy every second.” They also recommend choosing vendors you trust wholeheartedly. “When you’re confident in your team, you can actually relax and enjoy the day.”
– Song that got everyone up on the dance floor on your wedding night?
Their secret weapon? “We followed our first dance with ‘Murder on the Dancefloor’ and it was a hit! Brayden did an incredible job keeping the dancefloor packed all night.”
– Your go-to beer and wine from Eagle Bay?
James and Paige are all about the Kolsch and Cab Sauv from Eagle Bay, firm favourites for the wedding and beyond.
