Local Love Stories Ash & Chris

Meet Ash and Chris, one of our wonderful couples who got hitched with us at Eagle Bay.

For Ash and Chris, choosing the South West as their wedding location was an easy decision. The Margaret River region has held a special place in their hearts, both as a couple and individually. It’s a place where they feel calm, connected, and relaxed. For Chris, it’s even more personal, he spent his childhood visiting his granny in Quindalup, and it’s a place packed with cherished memories. They wanted their guests to experience one of their favourite places in the world, a key reason why they chose to say ‘I do’ here.

– Why did you land on Eagle Bay as your venue?
Ash and Chris envisioned a wedding that felt elegant, but still relaxed and fun, a celebration where everyone could let loose and enjoy the beauty of the surrounds. They knew they wanted to be immersed in nature for both their ceremony and reception. Eagle Bay Brewing Co offered just that, with sweeping open fields, blue skies, and the ocean stretching into the distance. “It was the most spectacular location,” they told us, “so many of our guests commented on how stunning the backdrop was.”

– How did you choose your vendors (Gordon Becker, Zest Flowers, Yallingup Event Hire, etc)?
Ash led the deep-dive into research mode and it paid off. Every vendor exceeded expectations. A standout was Gordon Becker, who perfectly captured their desire for candid, relaxed photos with a natural feel. “He really got our style,” they said. “The photos he took at Eagle Bay and at our first look at Shelly Cove were just breathtaking.”

– A favourite memorable moment on your special day?
Both Ash and Chris agreed, the standout moment was their ceremony and hearing each other’s personal vows. “It was so incredibly special to share how we feel about each other and our future.” For Ash, another unreal moment was walking down the aisle with her dad, it was something she’d always imagined and will never forget.

– Top South West to-dos on your wedding weekend?
The celebrations didn’t end on the wedding night. Ash and Chris hosted recovery drinks and lunch at Swings in Roundabouts the next day, a picturesque setting with space for the kids to roam and the adults to unwind. They also made the most of their beachfront accommodation at Geographe Cove Resort, with plenty of time spent on the sand before and after the big day with their families.

– One key bit of advice to future couples in the lead-up to their wedding day?
“Planning is key, don’t leave things to the last minute.” They recommend being organised so that the final week is stress-free and enjoyable. “Also, enjoy the process. It can be overwhelming if you let it, but make time for fun.” Ash and Chris even took dancing lessons as a lighthearted way to prep, and they recommend splitting tasks based on your strengths. “Brides, don’t do it all yourself. Your groom is getting married too, share the load!”

– Song that got everyone up on the dance floor on your wedding night?
Don’t Stop Believin’ by Journey! “It wasn’t one we expected, but as soon as it came on, everyone ran to the dance floor. We even got lifted onto shoulders mid-song, such a memorable and fun moment. Now every time we hear it, we’re taken right back.”

– Your go-to beer and wine from Eagle Bay?
Ash was a fan of the Bubbles Blanc and Sauv Blanc, while Chris couldn’t pick between the XPA and the Pale Ale, both firm favourites. “Chris was very excited when we chose Eagle Bay Brewing Co because of the beers!”
