Eagle Rock – Wet Hopped Sour Ale

Collaborative brew by Eagle Bay Brewing Co x Rocky Ridge Brewing x Dunsborough Cellars

Eagle Bay and Rocky Ridge Brewing Cos have teamed up for a unique release that marks a series of firsts for each beer maker. It is the first time the two South West Australian brewers have worked together, the first time Eagle Bay sourced seawater has been combined with fresh farm picked hops from Rocky Ridge, and the first time Eagle Bay Brewing Co have released a beer in a can (insert a hell yeah !!!!) The limited edition wet-hopped sour ale was also brewed with the input of local independant bottle shop Dunsborough Cellars, making it a truly cooperative effort.

The Eagle Rock wet-hopped sour ale is made by starting with a 24-hour souring period, before throwing in wet hops to halt that part of the brew. An ancient-style Kviek yeast is then added for the ferment, giving it an interesting twist to complete the flavour profile. The result was canned and kegged on site at Rocky Ridge Brewing Co. for maximum freshness.

This wet hop sour ale is bursting at the seams with citrus aromas! Pouring a hazy gold, there is funky yeast esters and a very apparent apricot marmalade character on the palate. Weighing in at 4.5% this beer has balanced acidity, a distinctive hop profile and is an all round easy drinker.

We love enjoying beer with our pals, we hope Eagle Rock encourages you to do the same.
